I adopted Luna two years ago from a shelter that warned me she was "particular." She'd had a leg injury before I got her, and it left her with a slow, deliberate walk that no amount of coaxing could speed up.

At first it was frustrating — I was always in a hurry, and she was never going to be. Eventually I noticed I'd started sitting on the floor with her in the mornings instead of rushing straight to my laptop. That ten minutes became the best part of my day.

What changed

I still don't know if it was the cat or just needing permission to stop moving so fast. Either way, I'm grateful for both.
